CSCC Research Areas 2015 - 2020

In August 2015 the CSCC entered its second funding period and development phase. Of course, the research focus remained on sepsis and its sequelae. Projects and clinical trials covered all aspects of septic disease courses, including prevention, diagnosis, intensive care and long-term consequences.

Based on the current medical need, the local expertise and the results of the first five years of research in the CSCC, the research areas were re-defined and categorized in four fields:

• A.    Difficult-to-treat infection (BUGS)
• B.    Novel strategies for antimicrobial therapies (DRUGS)
• C.    Targeted strategies in organ failure (DAMAGE)
• D.    Post-acute care and (long-term) outcome research
