Jena • The »IKARUS« research programme was officially launched with a successful kick-off meeting. The event brought scientists together and laid the foundations for the seven sub-projects that are being worked on as part of the programme.
Prof Dr Mathias Pletz, spokesperson of the Steering Committee, opened the meeting with a brief presentation of the overall project, the scientific objectives, the participating institutions and the online Scientific Advisory Board.
The meeting centred on the presentations by the seven fellows, who introduced their respective research projects. Thanks to the constructive and effective discussion, the participants received valuable suggestions for their further scientific work.
Finally, the Vice Dean for the Promotion of Young Researchers, Prof Dr Regine Heller, presented the support structures at Jena University Hospital in general and at IKARUS in particular.
The event was characterised by an open and productive exchange. The lively discussions and positive feedback showed how important the interdisciplinary research approach addressed by the research college is.
