Antje Freytag holds a doctorate in economics and is a health services researcher. She has been employed as a senior researcher at the Institute of General Practice and Family Medicine since October 2011. For many years, she has been a member of the institute’s extended leadership team, coordinates the institute’s research activities, and heads the working group “Health Services Research Using Routine Data”. In 2022, she completed her habilitation at the Faculty of Medicine of Friedrich Schiller University Jena and obtained the venia legendi in Health Economic Health Services Research.
Antje Freytag’s research focuses on the health economic analysis of (regional) healthcare structures, the evaluation of new models of care, and cross-sectoral health services research on various diseases, particularly on end-of-life care. She has a comprehensive understanding of the governance mechanisms of the healthcare system and aims to contribute to making healthcare provision sustainable in times of increasingly scarce human and financial resources.
