LABKI2B2

Project Name: Laboratory-Based Artificial Intelligence for Quality-Controlled Extraction of Clinical Phenotype Information in Healthcare Integrated Biobanking

Project Category: local research project

Head of Project:

  • PD Dr. Dr. Michael Kiehntopf (Jena University Hospital)

Duration and Status: May 9, 2025 – May 8, 2027, ongoing data usage

Data Types Provided: case data, diagnoses, procedures, laboratory tests

Abstract:
The aim of the project is to develop a Healthcare Integrated Biobanking (HIB) algorithm that addresses the specific requirements of different phenotypes in the clinical environment and can be integrated into a hospital system workflow. One specific initial application is the identification of advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). Another goal is to develop resource-efficient methods for detecting phenotype status in large cohorts. Initially, this will be tested using CKD as an example, employing an AI-based algorithm as a "silver standard" to determine the "true" CKD status, which serves as a reference for validating the HIB algorithm. LABKI2B2 represents a further development of the completed STAKI2B2 project and builds on its prior work and results.
