Jena • Two of our research fellows had the opportunity to present their research findings at the ESCMID Global 2026 through poster and oral presentations.

Dr. Stefan Glöckner investigated whether the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus retains its aggressiveness when it infects heart valves and triggers endocarditis. Dr. Micha Banz developed an open source workflow that can rapidly detect microbial genetic traces in the blood using state-of-the-art sequencing technology – with the aim of diagnosing bloodstream infections more quickly.
