To complete a doctoral project if financial support runs out, the FSU, several foundations and the JSMM offer short-term grants.
Short-term grants for foreign doctoral candidates
The FSU provides financial support for international doctoral candidates in the time span between the opening and termination of the doctoral examination procedure. These scholarships are funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and cover maximum 1.000 € per month. Grants are awarded up to three months, with a possible extension of up to six months. FSU grants for completing a doctorate
The FSU offers special grants of € 1,400 per month for a period of six months (as a rule) or 12 months (exceptional cases). However, the overall period of the doctorate may not exceed 36 months including the period for which the special grant was paid.
